Studio U supports Art Night
June 2008
Gears up for warm-weather crafting
CHESTER - Studio U crafting center supported the Flocktown-Kossmann School in Long Valley with a grant for $1,500 toward their artist in residence, Dar Hosta. She worked with the students on gorgeous colleges, and each class had a book made with a story they wrote to correspond to their artwork.
To celebrate the completion of this project and to highlight all of the students' art, the school has an annual Art Night. This year, Studio U was invited to participate.
The staff of StudioU, "The U-Make-It Place," chose to bring hundreds of cut cards and embellishments?from stickers and stamps to flags and star confetti?to allow the kids to make cards for the soldiers in Iraq.
While some of the greetings were profound, others were downright funny. One boy wrote, "I hope we win." Another wrote, "Have a good war."
There were touching cards as well, like the one that reads, "Thank you for protecting me and my family," or "You are the best and I want to be just like you when I grow up."
Back at the Studio U studio, the staff is getting ready for an exciting summer ahead.
Card-making supplies include a library of gorgeous and unique papers. There is also a die-cut machine for custom looks and an endless array of embellishments for the cards. For Father's Day, pre-cut cards and gift tags are awaiting decoration with your own special touches.
Studio U's Father's Day gifts are awesome, too. Just bring in a photograph of the kids or a drawing that they have created and put it on a great quality tie, or a mousepad, coffee mug or canvas. Or choose from other possibilities and make a gift that Dad will cherish. You can embellish it to make it funny or keep it serious.
Studio U has initiated a "Free Summer Pass" program, where all studio fees are waived until the end of the summer. The more you craft the more you save as, every time you make something, Studio U punches your card. When you bring it back in September, you'll receive discounts up to 30 percent.
Also new, Studio U is offering personalized products for every gift occasion. The studio also is gearing up to launch scrapbooking in the fall.
Worried about the kids getting antsy over the summer? The Studio U summer program for kids ages 7 to 12 is fantastically fun and creative with an ice cream social at the end of every week. Discounts are available for multiple weeks and/or children.
